Church of Sainte Pierre es Liens (13th cent.), Arbot, France, location of:
Marriage of Remy and Nicole (Mercier) Geoffroy November 13, 1711*
Baptism of their son Nicolas Geoffroy March 27,1714
Nicolas emigrated to Quebec Province, New France in 1740,
age 26
Visit by Bill Jeffway July 5, 2005 (eight generations
later!)

which led me to this church!
*note: Remy and Nicole Geoffroy's
great-great-grandson was Remi Geoffroy (1803-1876) who is my
great-great-grandfather. This Remi changed his name to Jeremiah
Jefway
when he moved from Quebec Province to Chateaugay, New York around 1850.
Rather clever to keep "remi" in his new name!
By 1900 my great-grandfather Adolphus started adding a second
"f" and Jefway became Jeffway.
